Choosing wood |
Wood plays an important part in sound production.
Sound boards
You can choose from:
- European Spruce
- Sitka Spruce
- Western red cedar
All tops are A grade or better. They have been chosen for sound production by tone tapping and stiffness. All tops are perfectly quartered.
Back and sides
Before you order I will send you a selection of pictures showing different woods with the outline of the guitar drawn on them. This could include
- Brazilian Rosewood
- English Walnut
- Satin Wood
- Cypress
- Indian Rosewood
Necks and fingerboards
Necks are Brazilian cedar. Fingerboards are ebony.
Purfling
- Brazilian Rosewood
- White Maple
- Dyed black Maple
- Holly
- Snakewood
Trial neck
You can specify width, depth and profile of neck (round or slightly flattened). If you would like to make sure the feel of the neck is absolutely right for you I can make a neck to your specifications before you order. This costs £50 plus packaging and postage.
Amplification
Any classical or flamenco guitar can be built with a pickup already installed. The make and model is up to the purchaser but I can advise on which ones have worked well in my guitars in the past. Email for details and cost.
